A note on trigger warnings and reader care

Let's Talk Content Warnings

As I prepare to release Scars, I want to take a moment and speak directly to readers who may be affected by sensitive subject matter. My goal is to be transparent about the content of this story, so that you can make an informed choice - because there's nothing worse than investing time, energy, and money into a book you can't finish.

Below is a list of potential triggers or themes that may be difficult for some readers:

1. Mental Health Themes

  • PTSD

  • Self-harm

  • Suicidal ideation

2. Abuse & Trauma

  • Physical abuse (including domestic violence)

  • Sexual abuse and assault (heavily implied)

3. Addiction & Substance Use

  • Alcoholism

  • Drug use (including forced drug use).

4. Death & Violence

  • Gun violence

  • Death & loss (including mentioned death of a child - not graphic)

  • Murder

5. Other Distressing Themes or Imagery

  • Abandonment

  • Blood/injury

  • Terminal illness

Please know this list is not exhaustive. I've done my best to highlight the most potentially triggering topics, but every reader's sensitivities are different. I've taken great care to handle these themes with empathy and respect. If you have any questions about the content before reading, feel free to reach out.

If you or someone you know is struggling with self-harm or suicidal thoughts, or is a victim of human trafficking, there is help. You are not alone. Please consider reaching out to one of the resources below:
